The Phantom of the Opera

The London production of Phantom opened in 1986. Its run was cut short in 2020, after 14,255 performances, due to the COVID–19 pandemic. It was the third–longest running show in West End history, after The Mousetrap and Les Misérables.

The Mousetrap has been going continuously since 1952 (except during the pandemic), and is on course to celebrate its 30,000th performance in 2024 or 2025. Les Mis ran from 1985 to 2019, with 14,490 performances.

A new, updated production of Phantom opened in July 2021, at Her Majesty's Theatre – the same venue as the original (known since September 2022 as His Majesty's Theatre).
